Introducing the Exxentric kBox: A Rehab Revolution in a Box

ree

Here at Physio on Patterson, we’re proud to introduce the Exxentric kBox—a compact flywheel device that brings the power of eccentric-overload training into your recovery journey.

🔍 What Is the kBox?

The kBox is a portable platform-based flywheel system. You attach a strap to a flywheel, and as you perform movements—such as squats, rows, deadlifts—the flywheel spins, creating resistance that matches your effort on every rep. It's self-regulating: the harder you pull, the greater the load—and that applies to both the lifting (concentric) and lowering (eccentric) phases.

  • Variable resistance across the full range of motion

  • Up to 70+ exercises with different grips, attachments, and harnesses (Exxentric)

⚙️ How It Works

  • You generate concentric force by spinning the flywheel.

  • In the eccentric phase, you must resist its return—often 20–40% stronger than the concentric effort (advancedhumanperformance.com).

  • Inertia and velocity determine the load, allowing max effort every rep (advancedhumanperformance.com).

  • The optional kMeter sensor adds real-time biofeedback—power, force, speed—for objective tracking (Exxentric).

💪 Why It’s Effective in Rehab

  1. Eccentric overload for tendon health Eccentric exercise is often hugely significant when treating tendinopathies—such as patellar, Achilles, rotator cuff, and lateral elbow conditions. The kBox simplifies applying this load in safer, more efficient ways across varied movements.

  2. Soft tissue remodeling & injury prevention Research shows eccentric training remodels tendon structure and improves function, vital for long‑term recovery (Exxentric).

  3. Tailored resistance & safety With variable resistance and ROM control, clinicians can limit stress on painful tissues—ideal in mid-late stage rehab (fizique.co.za, Exxentric).

  4. Performance improvements post-injuryIn late-stage ACL rehab, adding eccentric flywheel training twice weekly for six weeks produced better gains in leg strength, jump performance, and hop tests compared to traditional methods (Exxentric, Exxentric).

  5. Body-wide impact It builds strength across entire kinetic chains—from lower limbs to shoulders—with low impact on joints (MOTUS Physical Therapy, physioupdate.co.uk).

✅ Bottom Line

The Exxentric kBox offers a modern, research-driven approach to rehab:

Benefit
