We’re excited to share some fantastic news with the Physio on Patterson community—we’ve just welcomed a brand-new treadmill to the clinic, and force plates are on their way very soon!
These new tools are part of our ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of care, combining hands-on expertise with state-of-the-art technology to better assess, monitor, and guide your recovery and performance.
🚶♂️ Our New Treadmill: More Than Just Walking or Running
This isn’t your average gym treadmill. Our new unit is designed specifically for clinical and rehabilitation settings, allowing for more detailed observations of walking and running mechanics in a controlled, safe environment.
Key benefits include:
Gait analysis: We can assess how you walk or run, identifying compensations, asymmetries, or inefficient movement patterns that may contribute to pain or injury.
Post-injury rehab: Whether you're recovering from a knee injury, hip surgery, or ankle sprain, walking and jogging can be gradually reintroduced in a safe, supported way.
Return-to-sport decision making: By assessing real-time movement, we can more confidently determine if you’re ready to resume sport or activity.
Chronic condition management: For clients with chronic issues such as neurological or cardiorespiratory conditions, treadmill use can help with mobility, balance, and endurance—under close supervision.
🦶Coming Soon: Force Plates for Precision Assessment
Force plates are an exciting addition to our clinic and are widely used in elite sport, rehabilitation, and research. These high-tech platforms measure the ground reaction forces produced when you stand, walk, jump, or perform any weight-bearing activity.
Once installed, force plates will allow us to:
Quantify balance and stability: Ideal for fall-risk assessments or post-concussion evaluations.
Measure asymmetries in movement: Helpful in rehab following injuries like ACL tears or hip or knee replacements.
Track rehab progress objectively: See real data that shows how much force you're producing on each leg over time.
Refine return-to-play decisions: Athletes often "feel" ready before their body is truly symmetrical or stable enough—force plates help take the guesswork out.
🧠 Why This Matters for You
These technologies aren’t just flashy gadgets—they're clinical tools that help us tailor your care more precisely. Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing a chronic condition, or aiming to optimise your performance, we’ll have new ways to measure what matters and design a program that gets results.
We’re proud to invest in technology that supports our mission: helping you move better, feel stronger, and get back to doing what you love.
